About Us

Pictured above are Co-owners of The Horn Coffee. Ahmed and Zakariya - Alumnis of Tennessee State University, along with their father, Hassan Rasul.

The Horn's story starts with our father, who for years sold his delicious sambusas outside the mosque and around town to take care of our family. We grew up helping him, learning that food connects people. The cafe was our way to bring his dream of having his own place to life. Sambusas, made for our livelihood, and Somali chai, shared in evening gatherings, are the flavors of our family's story. It's this spirit that we wanted to bring to Nashville.

In 2015, we opened The Horn as a welcoming space for everyone, with a special intention to also serve as a "third place" for the younger Muslim community in Nashville.

Despite early challenges, we persevered, guided by our father's encouragement, and stayed true to our roots.

Today, we focus on serving authentic sambusas – including our original beef recipe – and our traditional Somali chai. Our cafe shares Somali flavors with Nashville and remains a meaningful gathering place for our community.
