Kenyan black tea
Bold CTC black tea from the Kenyan highlands. The small, tight leaves hold up to a long simmer and a pour of milk without going flat.
It's the base of every cup we pour.
It started with a dad selling sambusas out of his van around Nashville. Family-owned since 2015.
Boil 2 cups of water, add 2 level tablespoons of chai and let it lazy simmer 3 to 5 minutes, until it turns a deep, rusty amber. Add 1 cup of milk, simmer 2 to 3 minutes more, sweeten if you like, then pour through the strainer. Makes 2 cups.
Two 4 oz bags of The Horn Somali Chai. Kenyan CTC black tea, cinnamon, cardamom and cloves. 48 cups between them.
One stainless steel strainer. A fine mesh bowl that catches every leaf and spice.
One bag of Golden Somali Bites (Kac Kac). Crispy, lightly sweet and warm with cardamom. Made for dunking.
The chai has no preservatives, no citric acid and no added sugar, so how sweet your cup gets is your call.
This kit ships free. Every order ships with tracking and lands within 7 days, nationwide.

Bring 2 cups of water to a boil, then add 2 level tablespoons of chai.
Turn it down to a lazy simmer for 3 to 5 minutes, until the color goes deep, rusty amber. Want it stronger? Give it 2 more minutes.
Pour in 1 cup of milk and simmer gently for 2 to 3 minutes. Sweeten now if you like.
Pour it through the strainer from your kit and drink it warm. That's two cups, the way we brew it at The Horn.
