From Street Stand to Staple: How The Horn Began

A Journey Across Continents
The Horn’s story begins in the 1990s, when our father arrived in Nashville from Somalia and sold sambusas out of the back of his car to support our family. We grew up helping him with folding, frying, and serving, learning the flavors of home and the art of hospitality, one sambusa at a time.
Rooted in Tradition, Reimagined in Nashville
In 2015, we turned those streetside origins into something bigger: a café built on family recipes and tradition. Sambusas paired with Somali chai became the heart of The Horn, offering a space for the community to come together over familiar flavors and warm hospitality.
More Than a Café
Today, The Horn is a Nashville staple. It is more than just a place to grab a bite. It is a gathering place where culture, food, and community converge. Guests come for our authentic sambusas and spiced chai, and stay for the welcome that feels like family.
A Flavor Carried from Somalia
At The Horn, we craft East African tradition with bold innovation. Each bite and sip is infused with warmth, whether it is our traditional sambusas or our signature Somali chai, rooted in our heritage and shaped by our Nashville journey.
